Nate Howard is a nationally-recognized motivational speaker, educator, poet, and social entrepreneur. After making the front page of the Los Angeles Times in May 2013 for sparking  a movement against the LAPD for racial profiling, Nate realized just how frequently the stories and voices of Black and Brown youth are stifled and rewritten. In response, he founded Movement BE. A non-profit organization and edtech platform, Movement BE utilizes social-emotional learning techniques to encourage the development of critical soft skills, like self-expression, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal relations. To date, Movement BE has positively impacted thousands of students. In recognition for his work, Nate was included on NBC’s 2016 NBCBLK28, a list of the top 28 Black leaders under 28 in the nation and featured on the Today Show as one of the "Best and Brightest: Game Changers Making History."  

In the summer of 2021, Nate Howard launched the Movement BE Center in San Diego to give the city’s youth a safe space to express themselves, develop their voice, and just be..  Now, the Movement BE Center has hosted over 200 students, providing free summer and after-school programs. That same summer, Nate released his debut book, Tell Your Story Before They Do, which helps individuals harness the power of their own story through poetry and writing activities.  

With a belief that in order for activism to be sustainable and successful it should stem from education and creative expression, Nate continues to expand his platform to reach even more young people in need of guidance, support, and an outlet for expression. He is currently expanding the reach of the Movement BE platform, working with schools, organizations, and workforce development groups to support both students and opportunity youth in need. Additionally, he is developing a workforce platform to create equitable access to job opportunities for opportunity youth by leveraging technology to deliver personalized career pathways, skill-building, and mentorship.  Providing social-emotional learning tools at every stage of a young person’s life, Nate works everyday to create a world where the next generation is able to unlock their full potential, own their personal stories, and never underestimate the power of their voice.
